GURUGRAM — Alcobrew Distilleries India Limited has officially announced the expansion of its luxury spirits portfolio with the introduction of two mainstay expressions under its Gamber Valley Indian Single Malt Whisky brand. Titled Gamber Valley Pravah: and Gamber Valley Tapah:, these new offerings are set to form the permanent core of the brand’s range, marking a significant milestone in Alcobrew’s strategic footprint within India’s burgeoning luxury and single malt segments.
Rooted deeply in the pristine heights of the Himalayas, both expressions are distilled, matured, and bottled exclusively at Alcobrew’s state-of-the-art distillery situated in Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Crafted using 100% Indian malted barley and water infused with unique Himalayan characteristics, the new whiskies are matured in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at a robust 46% ABV. Notably, Gamber Valley Tapah: arrives as an early and ambitious entrant in the rapidly emerging Himalayan-origin peated Indian single malt space, offering enthusiasts a distinctive regional interpretation of a globally celebrated style.
The timely launch, timed for the festive season, follows the initial debut of Gamber Valley in June 2026, which featured limited small-batch releases under the Private Edition 1 and The Vault Series labels. By transitioning from exclusive small batches to permanent core expressions, Alcobrew is making the character of its Himalayan distillery accessible to a much broader and increasingly discerning audience of whisky connoisseurs across the country.
The first phase of the roll-out covers key consumer markets, including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh. In terms of retail pricing, Gamber Valley Pravah: falls within the range of ₹3,600 to ₹5,500, while the peated Gamber Valley Tapah: is priced between ₹4,300 and ₹7,500. Company officials note that these prices will vary across states depending entirely on local excise duties and regional taxes. Both expressions will be made available in standard 750 ml bottles.
Establishing a Permanent Range for Gamber Valley
The introduction of Pravah: and Tapah: establishes a permanent, diversified foundation for the Gamber Valley brand. While Pravah: is crafted as a smooth, approachable unpeated malt designed for seamless elegance, Tapah: brings a balanced peated profile that carries an inner fire and deeper complexity. Together, they offer two distinct stylistic interpretations of Himalayan single malt production, catering to both seasoned collectors and consumers who are newly exploring the category of Indian single malts.
Romesh Pandita, Chairman and Managing Director of Alcobrew Distilleries India Limited, elaborated on the vision driving the brand’s evolution.
"With Private Edition 1 and The Vault Series, we introduced Gamber Valley and demonstrated our vision for an Indian single malt rooted in Himalayan provenance and craftsmanship," Pandita stated. "With Pravah: and Tapah:, we are taking that vision a step further by establishing the core expressions of the brand. Our endeavour is to create Indian single malts that stand confidently on their own merit, with a distinctive identity shaped by the land, ingredients, and craftsmanship behind them. One flows with seamless elegance, while the other carries an inner fire. Both are unmistakably born in Solan. The festive season offers an ideal occasion to introduce these expressions to consumers."

Echoing this sentiment, Ashutosh Rajput, Chief Operating Officer of Alcobrew Distilleries India Limited, highlighted the long-term commercial and cultural strategy behind the rollout.
"Pravah: and Tapah: represent an important milestone in the evolution of brand Gamber Valley," said Rajput. "These are the expressions around which we intend to build the brand’s long-term portfolio. Our focus is to bring quality Indian single malt whisky to a wider audience without compromising on craftsmanship, authenticity, or provenance. With two distinct flavour profiles and an accessible entry point into the category, we are creating opportunities for both seasoned whisky enthusiasts and consumers looking to discover Indian single malts. We are launching across four states initially but will make it national in the times to come."
Addressing the unique positioning of the peated expression within the domestic market, Rajput added, "Peated single malt is still finding its voice in India, and that is precisely where we see an exciting opportunity. Tapah: is our interpretation of this globally celebrated style, shaped by its Himalayan origins and brought to life through Indian barley, gentle peat smoke, and the distinctive character imparted by maturation in the lower Himalayas."
Strict Quality Standards and Early International Recognition
Gamber Valley’s production adheres strictly to the rigorous standards established by the Indian Malt Whisky Association. This framework mandates the exclusive use of 100% malted barley, traditional copper pot still distillation, and a minimum maturation period of three years in oak casks, all executed entirely within the geographical boundaries of India.
Even as a relatively new name in the global spirits landscape, Gamber Valley has already begun accumulating critical acclaim. Earlier in 2026, the brand achieved a notable score of 92 points at the prestigious International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC), placing it securely among the highest-rated Indian single malts evaluated during the event. Industry experts view this early recognition as a strong validation of the quality and craftsmanship emerging from Alcobrew’s Solan facility.
Distinct Packaging Reflecting Himalayan Identity
In a market segment frequently dominated by dark glass bottles and familiar, traditional international design cues, Gamber Valley’s new core expressions introduce a distinctly Indian aesthetic identity.
The unpeated Pravah: is packaged in a pale Himalayan-blue monocarton accented with delicate gold detailing. The visual design draws direct inspiration from open skies, flowing mountain water, and the profound calm of high-altitude landscapes. Conversely, Tapah: is housed in a matte-black monocarton featuring bold gold accents, visually communicating its deeper, more intense, and smoky character.

This deliberate contrast grants each expression an individual personality while maintaining a cohesive and visually unified design language across the entire Gamber Valley portfolio.
Born in the Himalayas and Shaped by Time
Provenance remains the central pillar of the Gamber Valley brand narrative. The distillery’s physical location beside the Gamber River in Solan places it squarely in the heights of the lower Himalayas, where the local climate actively dictates the aging process and final flavor profile of the spirit.
The environmental conditions of the region—characterized by crisp Himalayan air, natural atmospheric moisture, and dramatic day-to-night temperature swings averaging around 15°C—accelerate and deepen the vital interaction between the aging spirit and the oak barrels. Over extended periods of time, these natural temperature fluctuations allow the wood to impart remarkable depth, complexity, and structural maturity to the whisky.
