ABC Companies Launches New Transit Bus Line as VinFast Enters U.S. Market in Strategic Partnership

The North American transit bus market is poised for a significant shake-up. ABC Companies has announced the launch of a brand-new line of heavy-duty transit buses designed from the ground up to address longstanding industry bottlenecks. Simultaneously, Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is preparing to bring its own electric buses to the United States through a strategic new partnership, injecting fresh competition into a sector that has faced immense operational and supply chain pressures in recent years.

The announcements come at a critical juncture for public transportation agencies across the United States. The domestic transit bus industry has weathered a tumultuous period marked by severe supply chain disruptions, fluctuating tariffs, and the sudden loss of two major manufacturers. These compounding challenges have left many municipal transit authorities grappling with lengthy order backlogs, delayed vehicle deliveries, and limited options when seeking to expand or modernize their fleets.

Industry stakeholders believe the timing could not be more advantageous for new market entrants. There is a remarkably high demand for transit buses right now, and market observers are optimistic that new manufacturing options will help alleviate chronic delivery bottlenecks that have plagued public agencies trying to maintain reliable service schedules.

A Fresh Approach to Heavy-Duty Transit: The Cor Transit Line

ABC Companies is stepping directly into this void with the introduction of its Cor Transit heavy-duty transit bus manufacturing operation. While the company has not yet finalized the specific geographic location for its manufacturing facility, leadership has confirmed that the upcoming vehicles will be fully compliant with the applicable requirements of the Build America Buy America Act. This compliance is a vital consideration for transit agencies that rely heavily on federal grants and funding to purchase new vehicles.

According to ABC officials, the first deliveries of the Cor Transit bus are officially projected to roll out to transit agencies in 2028. Rather than simply retrofitting existing designs, the company elected to build the new vehicle concept from the ground up, placing a heavy emphasis on the practical, day-to-day needs of both bus operators and service technicians.

The design philosophy behind the Cor Transit line centers on striking a balance between operational efficiency and passenger comfort. The primary goal was to develop a product that transit agencies would immediately understand and trust, while simultaneously creating a welcoming environment that encourages ridership.

To achieve this, designers focused heavily on the interior passenger experience, aiming for a calming atmosphere characterized by modern ambient lighting and a distinctively European aesthetic. Accessibility and passenger flow were also paramount during the engineering phase. The bus has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate a wheelchair ramp at either the front door, the center door, or both, depending on the specific configurations required by transit operators. Additionally, the vehicle features an intentionally widened interior aisle to streamline boarding and deboarding, thereby reducing dwell times at busy stops along transit routes.

Operator ergonomics and safety were given equal priority during the development process. Modern transit buses frequently utilize physical driver safety partitions to protect operators from potential assaults, but these safety barriers can sometimes disrupt airflow and ventilation within the driver’s enclosed compartment. ABC addressed this engineering hurdle proactively by making a dedicated driver’s air conditioning system standard equipment on the Cor Transit model. This specialized climate control system not only keeps operators comfortable during warm weather, but it also aids in window defogging and overall air circulation, ensuring optimal visibility and comfort throughout long shifts.

When the Cor Transit vehicles first debut, the initial wave of production models will be powered by traditional diesel engines. However, ABC Companies has confirmed that it has structured the vehicle architecture to accommodate alternative powertrains in the future, allowing the company to adapt as municipal transit agencies progressively transition toward zero-emission fleets.

VinFast Expands U.S. Footprint with Electric Bus Partnership

While ABC Companies is preparing its domestic manufacturing footprint for diesel and future alternative fuel models, VinFast is carving out a distinct pathway into the American public transit landscape with a heavy focus on electrification. The Vietnamese automaker is bringing its electric buses to the U.S. market through a newly minted collaboration with NexMove Certified, which operates as a joint venture between Transportation Management Services and electric vehicle charging infrastructure provider Zeem Solutions.

Rather than selling the buses strictly as standalone vehicles, the partnership aims to offer a comprehensive, turnkey solution for prospective buyers. The participating companies plan to package the VinFast electric buses alongside essential supporting elements—including EV charging infrastructure, routine maintenance services, and operational support—bundled together into a single, cohesive purchase agreement.

The introduction of these vehicles represents a major international expansion for VinFast’s commercial division. The buses will be manufactured overseas in Vietnam. Because of their foreign manufacturing origin, these particular vehicles will not meet the stringent domestic sourcing requirements of the Build America Buy America Act, meaning transit agencies relying on federal grants for vehicle acquisition may face limitations. Nevertheless, the manufacturer is positioning the vehicles as an attractive alternative for private operators, university campuses, or agencies utilizing non-federal funding sources. To bolster confidence in the imported electric fleet, VinFast has confirmed that the buses will be backed by a substantial 15-year warranty.
