His extensive purview includes physical AI, safety-critical flight software, advanced simulation and rigorous flight testing, as well as crucial ground systems, Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) networks, and commerce-facing digital platforms that interface directly with merchants and consumers. <\/p>\n<p>Jones brings a decade-long tenure at Wing to the position, having helped guide foundational technical decisions from the company\u2019s earliest days inside Google X, Alphabet\u2019s renowned &quot;moonshot&quot; research and development facility. Prior to his work in commercial drone delivery, Jones served as a U.S. Navy Aerospace Engineer stationed at Patuxent River, Maryland. During his military service, he provided vital engineering support for the F\/A-18 Automatic Carrier Landing System and the X-47B Unmanned Carrier Air System Demonstrator\u2014a pioneering team effort that earned the prestigious 2013 Collier Trophy for the greatest achievement in aeronautics and astronautics in the United States. Jones holds an aerospace engineering degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Class 133.<\/p>\n<h2>Paul Gojenola on Hardware and Manufacturing<\/h2>\n<p>Complementing Jones&#8217;s software and autonomy expertise is Paul Gojenola, who joined Wing earlier this year after building a three-decade career in shipping high-volume consumer electronics at some of the world&#8217;s most prominent technology giants, including Google, Apple, and Amazon. Wing holds the distinction of being the first drone delivery operator to successfully earn a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration, a regulatory milestone that paved the way for commercial drone logistics in the United States. Furthermore, the company spearheaded the first at-scale residential drone deliveries across multiple suburban and urban markets, partnering with major retailers like Walmart to drop lightweight packages\u2014weighing up to 2.5 pounds\u2014directly into residential yards and driveways.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Wing\u2019s autonomous fleet serves hundreds of communities daily, with new neighborhoods and retail partners added on a weekly basis.
